Engineering colleges making money by misusing fee refund of students who withdraw

The institute I am taking admission to is to pay full fee for the first year in advance and their refund rules are vague and they will keep the full fee if I do not join that college. What can I do?

Another unfair tactic veru common among the money making engineering colleges. If you cancell your seat before the starting date of the course they can only deduct Rs. 1000/- (yes only one thousand) as per the rules.


And if you leave after the classes have started – say sometime during first month – then they have to deduct only the first month’s fee on pro rata basis.

Most colleges normally have practice of deducting about Rs. 10 to 15000/- and if the sessions starts they deduct 75 to 80% of the fee.

You can make complain to AICTE (All India Counsil for Technical Education) against such unfair practices by errant colleges. If your complaint is found true then AICTE can take action against such colleges like withdrawing the approval / recoganition of the college.
