Jamia Millia Islamia University has started new course on (BDS)

Jamia Millia Islamia University can be called as National Islamic University  is an Indian Central University located in Delhi, but their are no colleges affiliated to the university anywhere else however it has the capability of providing a large number of courses at school, undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Now the university is all set to start a new dental college from this academic session.Expected  to take at an average of  50 students, classes for the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) is likely to begin from mid August.

Over the past few years  they worked hard  on the dental college, designing its building and course content, as well as the process of taking permissions from the various councils and authorities.

Students will be offered admission to the BDS on the basis of written test followed by an interview.

The entrance test  date for the admission has been announced  and it will be conducted in mid July.

Jamia Millia Islamia (Urdu: جامعہ ملیہ اسلامیہ, Hindi: जामिया मिलिया इस्लामिया, translation: National Islamic University) is an Indian Central University located in Delhi. It was originally established at Aligarh in United Provinces, India in 1920. It became a Central University by an act of the Indian Parliament in 1988. In Urdu and Arabic, Jamia means University, and Millia means National.
The university was established by nationalist Muslims and is secular in character. Its campus is located in South Delhi. There are no colleges affiliated to the university anywhere else. The university provides a large number of courses at school, undergraduate and postgraduate level.
New Delhi: The Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is all set to start a new dental college from this academic session.
With an annual intake of 50 students, classes for the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) is likely to begin from mid August. Students will be offered admission to the BDS on the basis of written test followed by an interview. The entrance test is likely to be conducted in mid July.
Admission notification for the BDS will soon be announced by the varsity.
The Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry this past week issued a letter of intent for the establishment of a new dental college in the name of Faculty of Dentistry on the Jamia campus.
It will be the ninth faculty at Jamia. It has 29 faculty members, along with the requisite number of paramedic, technical and sanitary staff as required by the Dental Council.
“Work on the dental college, designing its building and course content, as well as the process of taking permissions from the various councils and authorities has been on in full swing over the past few years. A dental OPD has already been functional at the University’s Ansari Health Centre for some time,” added Rakhshanda Jalil.

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) University is going to introduce seven different courses in tourism, hospitality and heritage studies. The programs are going to have an academic and research perspective. The university also aims to make the program affordable and easily accessible. Usually these programs awarding degrees and diplomas charge high fees and hence can be afforded by the elite class of the society. The students with low income families can hardly have access to these courses. The university has been offering diploma and certificates courses in tourism and travel management.
