In case you haven’t secured admission to any college, and you find the cut-offs too high, don’t panic as in the online admission process, each student can apply to 150 colleges, pushing up the cut-offs. When admissions were done manually, students would apply to around five or ten colleges.

Students are allowed to apply to a maximum of two streams. A student who makes it to the merit list in both streams can then fill out the admission form in the stream of his choice. Once he does so, his name will be struck off the online admission system in the stream that he has rejected, with the result that there will be several vacancies after the first merit list.

Those who find their name on the first merit list must contact the college to which they have made it to and confirm their admission. This is mandatory, even if the college is low on their preference list. Students will have one chance to better their prospects.

So, if they make it to a college of their choice in the second or third merit list, they can withdraw admission to the first college and gain admission to the second.

But if, in the first instance, you fail to secure admission to the seat you have been allotted, you will be out of the admission process, and you will not get a seat in any college. Colleges have been asked to regularly upload information regarding admissions and cancellations on their website.

If a student does not make it to any of the merit lists, he will be allotted a seat wherever there is a vacancy.

Students who have any grievance regarding online admissions can submit a written complaint at their respective submission centers, along with a copy of the online form.

If students who have applied for two streams make it to the merit list of the stream they are not keen on, they should approach the education department over the matter.
