Earthquake in kolkata was just the small tremor effect of an earthquake in Assam and Bhutan in the northeastern part of India. The tremors were felt in some parts of west Bengal and Kolkota as well. many people were seen running into the streets and cracks have developed in some buildings.

Till now there are no reports of any casualties or injuries.

Earthquake in Assam

The earthquake which occured in afternoon has left cracks in many buildings in Guwahati. The epicenter of earthquake was said to be in the mountainous regions of Bhutan. Many say that this was the biggest tremor they felt in many years in Assam. The north eastern region of India has been hit by major earthquakes in 1950 and 1897.

The US Geological Survey reported the 6.3-magnitude quake was centered about 80 miles (125 kilometers) north of Gauhati and 115 miles (180 kilometers) east of Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital, at a depth of 4.5 miles (7.2 kilometers).

The quake news was reported from Bhutan’s capital Thimpu. The quake was also felt in Bangladesh and Lhasa, the Tibetan capital in southwest China.
