Jagadhatri Puja 2009 or Jagadhatri Puja or Dhatri Pooja or Jagadamba Puja is the most important ritual and festival in the month of Kartik Maas in Bengali Calendar on October 27, 2009.After Chath Puja, Jagdharti Puja comes.Jagadhatri Puja, also known as Dhatri Pooja and Jagadamba Puja, is an important Hindu festival that traces it roots to the Chandannagar in West Bengal. Jagdhatri Pooja is observed on the ninth day (navami) during waxing phase of moon in the Bengali Kartik month. Jagadhatri Puja is essentially the worship of Shakti. Goddess Jagadhatri is believed to be a form of Durga.
It is said that Mr. Indranarayan Choudhury introduced the first Jagadhatri Puja in Chandannagar in the respect of King Krishnachandra of Krishnanagar. The whole Chandanagar is fully illuminated. People from all over the West Bengal comes here and visit the place whole night.Cultural activities, prayers, bhajans, Dhunuchi dance etc are organized during the Jagadhatri Puja period.
The important rituals and festivals in the month include Bhai Ponta, Chat Puja, Jagadhatri Puja, Rash Yatra and Kartik Puja.
Kartik Purnima and Rash Yatra are on November 2.
Kartik Amabashya is on November 16.
One of the most important festival and puja in the month is the Jagadhatri Puja and it is observed on October 27, 2009.
Bhai Ponta is on October 19 and Chat Puja is on October 24.
