The University of Ajmer was founded on 1 August 1987. The University named was changed from University of Ajmer to Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University, under the provision of Ajmer vide Rajasthan State Gazette which was dated on 5 May 1992. The Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University was registered in the year 1993 under a section 12 (B) of U.G.C. Act 1956.
