Test for getting into the 13 Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and for  other management schools in India was held from October 22, 2011 to November 18, 2011.

On the reason to start this course IIM Indore said on their website that “It is widely believed that our ability to influence the younger students is much greater if we start early. It is hoped that we will be able to shape them as outstanding leaders.”

5 year IPGP is for whom

candidate must have passed Higher Secondary/ XII Std/ 10+2 level/ equivalent examination with 60% marks for General and NC-OBC Category and 55% marks for SC, ST and PWD/DA Category OR SAT –1 overall score of 1600 out of 2400 (1475 out of 2400 for SC, ST and PWD/DA)

Age: Candidate should have completed 17 years and should not be more than 19 years old by June 30, 2011

Selection Process and Admission Criteria for 5 year program

Eligible candidates will be called for Aptitude Test (AT) and Personal Interview (PI) based on their academic performance in Secondary or equivalent, Higher Secondary or equivalent, scholastic achievements and performance in SAT-1. Candidates with no valid SAT-I scores are also eligible to apply if they satisfy the minimum requir ements as mentioned in section 1.

Final selection to the five year integrated PGP would be based on criteria, such as the candidate’s academic performance at Secondary and Higher Secondary or equivalent, schola stic achievements, performance in SAT –1 and performance in AT and PI.

AT and PI for shortlisted candidates will be conducted at Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Indore during September 27-29, 2011.

The CAT in trouble

Many candidates could not take exams due to virus, server connectivity, unavailability

Untrained invigilators have forced close exams of some candidates

Thousands of exams are rescheduled (1 extra day)

Prometric (body which is conducting the online exam) is accused of selling the database of candidates to private coaching centers

Exam is unfair as questions are not same to all students

It seems that IIMs now want to make exams till date null and void (of no importance) and conduct a written test for CAT on 10th January 2010. The decision in this regard will be taken within this week.
