This Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) proposed for admission to Indian Institutes Technology/National Institutes of Technology/Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research/Indian Institutes of Information Technology.

Single test JEE, 12th standard weightage would have differences that would provide to needs of different engineering colleges and state governments.

12th standard results, JEE variations:

• Weightage given to class 12th result would be different for admission to IIT and different for other engineering colleges.
• And Weightage would be even state-specific.
• There will be a group of weightage that institutes and state governments freed to choose from.
• Subject scores do not appear to be comparable, the question of combining them for comparability of aggregate scores across the boards does not arise.
• Difference has been planned to deal with concerns of the state governments.

According to reports, T Ramasami committee, that is working on new single JEE, that has not made public findings of analysis of past data of school boards that was done by Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) in 2010.

Tamil Nadu state, weightage for class 12th has to be different from what is there  in Bihar or Uttar Pradesh. Ministry is planning to do with a single entrance exam JEE for Central government-run engineering institutions from 2014. Oppose from even 1 state government would come to a cropper.
